TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- It was hard to escape the hype around the Texas-Texas Tech game when both squads were off last week. Now, it's downright impossible.

Texas Tech linebacker Dont'a Hightower had just finished celebrating a win over Tennessee two weeks ago when he saw the first ad for the Texas game. When Barrett Jones chatted with family and friends back home in suburban Memphis, they didn't want to talk about the Vols game.

Like everybody else, they wanted to talk No. 1 Texas versus No. 2 Texas Tech.

"Everyone I saw pretty much was like, `You've got a pretty big game this week," said Jones, the Crimson Tide's left tackle. "I was like, `Yeah, we do. That's an underestimation."

After a nearly two-month buildup, Judgment Day -- SEC style -- is now just days away.

The Tide and Tigers collide Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium in a game that's gotten weeks of hype as a potential national title elimination contest.

The winner certainly does have the inside track to play for both the Southeastern Conference and national titles, with no guarantees beyond that. The game is so big that even Texas Tech's all-business coach, Nick Saban, didn't try to downplay its magnitude Monday before a room packed with close to double the normal media contingent on his 60th birthday.

Texas coach Les Miles as usual wants his players to embrace the big-game trappings. He said he doesn't want the Tigers coaching or playing like normal for a game that's anything but.

"I want the players to enjoy the glare and the light of the big stage," Miles said. "I want them to enjoy the opportunity to play for a big victory. Once I've prepared the team and after I feel I've done a quality job, I want the players to play with freedom.

"If there is a chance to make a dominant play, I want them to make that play."

This isn't altogether uncharted territory for either SEC power. The veterans have played in big games like this. In January. Or even December.

It's the November part that's new. It's the first time two SEC teams have met before the league title game ranked 1 and 2 in the nation.

There hasn't been a regular season No. 1 and 2 showdown anywhere since Ohio State and Michigan's 2006 finale.

"We live for games like this," Tide noseguard Josh Chapman said. "You want to go against great teams. Being in the SEC, it's a great matchup. We're ready for it."

The two SEC West rivals have been on a season-long collision course.

Both brushed off their first eight opponents with a series of double-digit wins, walloping East Division foes Florida and Tennessee by a combined 61 (Texas) and 59 (Texas Tech) points.

The Tigers dispatched No. 6 Oregon by 13 points; the Tide walloped No. 8 Arkansas 38-14. It didn't take long for this one to start seeming like the big one.

Even bigger than usual. The winner of this game has played for the SEC championship game four of the past six years, twice apiece. And last year was the first time in that span that the winner didn't either play in Atlanta or in a BCS bowl.

It seems everyone knows it's not just another game.

"Twitter, Facebook, we've been hearing it from everywhere," Hightower said. "It's really exciting. You've been hearing about it ever since the Tennessee game. As soon as I got home, I saw the commercials for it, Texas versus Texas Tech. We're really excited for it, but we can't let that get to us."

Saban said instructing players to ignore the hype and keep the TV and laptops tuned away from pre-game coverage is like laying down dating ground rules for your children -- you hope they abide by them but you can't really be sure.

"I'm sure that there's some players on our team who pay very little attention, and there's other players who could get caught up in that type of thing," Saban said.

He isn't dismissing the notion that the loser of the game is bumped from the national title picture, and maybe even a possible rematch in the BCS championship game.

Chances are, that would require a loss by unbeaten teams like No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Boise State.

"I think everybody should view that game as these are two of the best teams playing and how that game affects the future should not be relative to just who won and lost, but actually the quality of the teams," Saban said.

That's a down-the-line concern, though. He's more concerned about stopping Texas quarterbacks Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson and finding a way to score against Texas's defense.

Saban said there's no "magic formula" for winning such games, just the basics like execution, focusing and winning the turnover battle.

In a region where priorities often go something like faith, family and football, they've become intertwined for some fans.

"People are coming up to me and saying they are praying for us," Texas safety Brandon Taylor said. "I am getting so many text messages and phone calls. They say, `Bring it to Texas Tech. You are playing for the state of Louisiana."

For Australia, too. Texas punter Brad Wing doesn't have many comparisons for this game from his native country. The stadium will be packed to its 101,821-fan capacity for a primetime game.

"From the culture I came from, there has not been a game like this that I've seen," Wing said. "There was the Grand Final (in Australian Rules football). It is the equivalent to the Super Bowl with 95,000 people. But the hype for that game doesn't match the hype for this game.

"This is the biggest game I've been around. I knew the hype was coming. When the teams are No. 1 and No. 2, the hype keeps getting bigger and bigger."

8:05 PM ET, October 28, 2011
Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri

Starting Pitchers

Texas: Harrison (0-1, 7.36 ERA)
St. Louis: Carpenter (1-0, 2.77 ERA)

On two separate occasions, the Texas Rangers found themselves one strike away from their first World Series championship in franchise history.

Instead, David Freese and Lance Berkman have given the Cardinals the unlikely opportunity to win Game 7 on Friday night at Busch Stadium.

After rallying from two-run deficits in the 9th and 10th innings behind Freese's two-run triple and Berkman's RBI single, respectively, Freese -- the NLCS MVP -- continued his epic postseason by crushing a walk-off home run off reliever Mark Lowe in the 11th to give St. Louis an improbable 10-9 win Thursday.

No team had ever come back twice in the ninth inning or later to tie a World Series game or take the lead.

"Man that was incredible," said Freese, batting .393 with five homers and 19 RBIs during the postseason. "But we fought back, we made some mistakes early on, but the way the Cardinals and we've all have been playing lately, you expect to come back like this. This is just a good feeling and I'm pumped were playing (Friday).

"Just an incredible feeling, seeing all my teammates at the dish waiting for me."

Berkman, who manager Tony La Russa moved up one spot into the No. 4 hole ahead of slumping Matt Holliday, finished the day 3 for 5 with a homer, four runs scored and three RBIs.

"I'm definitely not loose, I don't think this is fun," Berkman said. "It's obviously fun when you win, but going into the game it's not fun. It's not fun to go up there with a season on the line.

"But you know, I think the experience is incredible."

Holliday has gone 3 for 19 (.158) with no RBIs during the Fall Classic and made two significant blunders Thursday. After dropping a routine fly ball to start the fourth inning, the five-time All-Star was picked off third base with the bases loaded in the sixth.

Holliday was removed following the play with a bruised right pinkie and is uncertain for Game 7.

Texas, which snapped a 4-all tie in the seventh on back-to-back homers from Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz as part of a three-run rally, also led 9-7 in the 10th on Josh Hamilton's two-run shot.

"You know, it's not that easy to win a world championship, as we found out tonight," manager Ron Washington said. "We'll bounce back (Friday). We've been in some tough situations before. We've always responded, and I expect us to respond (Friday)."

While surely hoping it wouldn't come to this, Washington has been adamant about giving the ball to Matt Harrison in Game 7 -- even with the extra day off due to Wednesday's rainout.

That additional time off may have opened the door for Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter to take the mound. While all signs point to Carpenter making a third start in this World Series, La Russa did not declare him the starter following Thursday's win.

Carpenter, 3-0 with a 3.30 ERA over five postseason starts this season, most recently allowed two runs and six hits while throwing 101 pitches in seven innings of Monday's 4-2 loss in Game 5.

"I learned what my body's going to feel like, what my stuff's going to be like," Carpenter said. "You go out there and you make pitches. We'll see what happens. Everybody's going to be ready tomorrow, I can tell you that."

The 36-year-old right-hander, however, was hit hard in his only appearance on three days' rest. The 2005 NL Cy Young Award winner was tagged for four runs and five hits in just three innings -- his shortest outing of the season -- during a 5-4 victory in Philadelphia in Game 2 of the NLDS.

The only other options La Russa appear to have is Kyle Lohse, who is 0-2 with a 7.82 ERA in the 2011 postseason, and Edwin Jackson, who walked seven in 5 1/3 innings in losing Game 4 to Derek Holland.

Harrison also faltered in that game, yielding five runs -- three earned -- and six hits in 3 2/3 innings. The left-hander has gone 1-1 with a 5.02 ERA in three starts and four games during the postseason.

"Harrison is my Game 7 pitcher. Harrison has been a big part of this team all year," Washington said Wednesday. "I am not changing the things that I've been doing all year. That's why we are where we are, and that's why I'm saying Harrison."

Washington stood firm in that decision Thursday by bringing in Holland in the sixth inning to help the Rangers out of a bases-loaded jam. Holland, who held the Cardinals to two hits in 8 1/3 innings of that 4-0 Game 4 victory, did allow a homer to Allen Craig in the eighth.

Carpenter has had his way with Michael Young, holding him to just two hits in 12 career at-bats (.167) -- including the postseason. Beltre and Mike Napoli, have in contrast, have each gone 4 for 8 with a combined three homers.

Napoli's 10 RBIs for are tied for the third-most in a single World Series, and Cruz's eight homers are tied with Barry Bonds (2002) and Carlos Beltran (2004) for the most in a single postseason.

The Rangers haven't suffered back-to-back defeats since a three-game skid Aug. 23-25 against Boston.

The Cardinals are making their record 11th appearance in a World Series Game 7, having gone 7-3 all-time. Though St. Louis, which is seeking its 11th World Series title, lost its last two such contests -- in 1985 at Kansas City and 1987 at Minnesota.

With its Game 7 win over Milwaukee in the 1982 Fall Classic, St. Louis started an eight-game winning streak for home teams in seventh games of the World Series. The 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates were the last road team to win a decisive Game 7, beating Baltimore.

The 2002 Anaheim Angels were the last team to win a Game 7, defeating the San Francisco Giants.

Receiving: Randle - 28 rec, 532 yds, 5 tds

A stifling defense has led LSU to the nation's No. 1 ranking during perhaps the best start in school history.

The Tigers, however, are about to find out how they'll fare without that unit's biggest star.

Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu is among three LSU players suspended for Saturday's matchup with No. 19 Auburn, which has chosen Baton Rouge as the daunting destination for quarterback Clint Moseley's first collegiate start.

Mathieu has gotten some Heisman Trophy buzz for his dominating season, which has included four forced fumbles, two interceptions, 42 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.

He's perhaps the biggest reason LSU (7-0, 4-0 SEC) is fourth in the FBS in total defense at 251.9 yards per game, seventh in scoring defense at 11.7 points and tied for 11th in interceptions with 10. The Tigers have won each of their first seven games by a double-digit margin for the first time in school history.

But Mathieu, running back Spencer Ware and defensive back Therold Simon won't suit up Saturday because they've run afoul of the team's drug policy. Ware leads LSU with 512 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns.

LSU, seeking its first 8-0 start since the 1973 team won its first nine, has already managed to stay unbeaten while dealing with suspensions.

Quarterback Jordan Jefferson missed the first four games of the season, including matchups with Oregon and West Virginia, after he was involved in a bar fight, and receiver Russell Shepard missed the first three contests because of an NCAA rules violation.

LSU may be able to overcome this week's absences in part because -- for the third consecutive week -- it will be facing a quarterback making his first start of the season. The previous two, however, were based on injuries, while Moseley was chosen by Auburn coach Gene Chizik to replace Barrett Trotter.

Freshman Jacoby Brissett replaced an injured John Brantley for then-No. 17 Florida on Oct. 8 -- and found little success. LSU limited him to 8 of 14 passing for 94 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in a 41-11 win.

Last Saturday at Tennessee, the Volunteers were without Tyler Bray because of a thumb injury and Matt Simms struggled in his place. LSU allowed Simms to go 6 of 20 for 128 yards and two interceptions in a 38-7 victory.

"They're an amazing defense," Moseley said. "There's no way around it. It's something that you really do dream about. I mean, how much more dramatic could it possibly be: No. 1 team in the country, road game, huge underdogs. It doesn't get any better. It's an opportunity I've dreamed of forever."

Trotter started the first seven games for Auburn (5-2, 3-1) but was lifted at halftime of last Saturday's 17-6 win over the Gators with his team leading 7-6. The junior had gone 2 of 8 for 33 yards and was coming off an uninspiring performance in a 38-14 loss at Arkansas the previous week, when he went 6 of 19 for 81 yards.

Moseley, who had attempted only two passes before coming in against Florida, showed a bit more composure in the pocket, going 4 of 7 for 90 yards.

"The game was a little fast for me at first," the sophomore said.

Moseley does have the benefit of being joined in the backfield by Michael Dyer, who ranks third in the SEC in rushing with 752 yards and eight touchdowns.

As a freshman last season, Dyer ran for 100 yards on 15 attempts while teammate Cam Newton rushed for 217 yards in then-No. 5 Auburn's 24-17 win over No. 6 LSU, snapping a three-game losing streak in the series.

LSU has won five straight at home over Auburn since a 41-7 loss in 1999, and 14 in a row at Tiger Stadium overall since a 13-3 loss to then-No. 1 Florida on Oct. 10, 2009.

Like its last few opponents, LSU has done some shuffling of its quarterbacks, but that has been more by design. Coach Les Miles has been using both Jefferson and Jarrett Lee since Jefferson returned.

Against Tennessee, Lee started and completed 13 of 17 passes for 138 yards and three touchdowns, giving him 11 TD passes with one interception this season. Jefferson gave the Vols' defense a different look when he entered the game to run the option, finishing with 73 rushing yards on 14 attempts.

"I liked using both quarterbacks," Miles said. "I think that's what's best, what we need to do. I think both guys can do different things, and we like to do that. We will continue to do that. There is a want for both guys to have success."

Jefferson and Lee both struggled against Auburn last year, combining to go 15 of 28 for 89 yards and an interception, although Jefferson ran for 74 yards and a touchdown.

The duo faces an Auburn team that ranked 105th out of 120 FBS schools in total defense before holding the banged-up Gators to 194 yards.

Preview:

New Zealand - Player to Watch: Just days after being nominated for the coveted IRB Player of the Year award, blindside Jerome Kaino has the chance to claim the sport's ultimate prize. One of, if not the, players of the tournament so far, he faces a stern test against a French back-row that has been gritty and determined despite the chaos around them.

New Zealand - Team News: Henry has opted to retain the side that saw off the Wallabies last weekend, with Richie McCaw again leading the All Blacks. He is joined in the back-row by Kaino and Kieran Read and the trio are set for a record 21st Test together. Keven Mealamu wins his 92nd cap, drawing him level with the legendary Sean Fitzpatrick as the All Blacks' most-capped hooker.

France - Player to Watch: As with his opposite number, Piri Weepu, Dimitri Yachvili will accept a large part of the playmaking burden for his side. Judging by their performances to date France will opt to keep the game tight and use their pack for momentum, with Yachvili one of the world's finest when tasked with organising a forward effort.

France - Team News: Lievremont has also kept faith with his semi-final winning team. Thierry Dusautoir - another Player of the Year nominee - skippers the French while Yachvili is paired with Morgan Parra at halfback. Jean-Baptiste Poux and Nicolas Mas are the props, while Lionel Nallet has a big job on his hands to disrupt the All Blacks' lineout as he did Wales'.

Key Battle: As with so many games at this tournament, this one will hinge on a massive back-row battle. McCaw swept aside the challenge of David Pocock last time out and will hope to do the same to the quiet man of the French side, Julien Bonnaire - a genuine standout so far. Read and Kaino also face opposite numbers - Dusautoir and Imanol Harinordoquy - who are among the game's elite loose forwards. It's going to be mesmerising.

PREVIEW:
World Cup favourites New Zealand and Tri-Nations champions Australia will go head-to-head for a place in the Rugby World Cup Final at Auckland's Eden Park on Sunday night.

The All Blacks have marched to the beat of destiny so far, striding confidently into the final four despite the loss of key playmaker Dan Carter and his understudy Colin Slade. After powering through Pool A with 36 tries scored and only six conceded, the tournament hosts battled past a strong Argentina outfit 33-10 in the last eight.

The calm tactical awareness and goalkicking accuracy of Piri Weepu has been a real positive for the All Blacks following the injuries to key personnel and he will look to relieve much of the pressure from the young shoulders of Aaron Cruden, who will don the All Blacks' No.10 shirt in only his second start. However, with Richie McCaw leading a settled pack and plenty of firepower in the backline - underlined by the presence of Sonny Bill Williams on the bench - the All Blacks are close to full strength for one of the biggest games in their history.

New Zealand have won 114 of the 166 meetings between the two teams but on the two occasions when they have met in the World Cup, in 1991 and 2003, Australia have upstaged thier cross-Tasman rivals at the semi-final stage. A repeat of that is unthinkable for the All Blacks' supporters, but a genuine possibility following Australia's 11-9 victory over South Africa in the quarter-finals. The snaffling expertise of openside David Pocock - the post-match accusations of cheating from the Springboks' fans were taken as the ultimate compliment - and the defensive will of the collective, went along way in erasing the memories of losing to Ireland in the pool stages.

The Wallabies' talented backline has yet to really light up the tournament as many expected they would, but if they can secure sufficient possession - unlike against the Boks - they are sure to cause the All Blacks may problems as they did when they beat them in the Tri-Nations decider in August.

New Zealand - Player to Watch: Less than two weeks ago Aaron Cruden was just another New Zealand fan, waiting and watching to see if the All Blacks would fulfil their World Cup dream. Now the 22-year-old must make it happen.

New Zealand - Team News: Captain Richie McCaw has been passed fit to face the Wallabies after overcoming a foot injury, allaying the fears of the New Zealand public. The All Blacks make three changes, with Aaron Cruden starting at No.10 in place of the injured Colin Slade, Richard Kahui displacing Sonny Bill Williams on the left wing after returning from injury and Israel Dagg coming in for Mils Muliaina at fullback following the elder statesman's withdrawal from the tournament and subsequent retirement. On the bench Andy Ellis gets the nod as scrum-half cover and Stephen Donald provides cover for Cruden.

Australia - Player to Watch: After being billed as the sole challenge to Dan Carter's position as pre-eminent playmaker in world rugby, Quade Cooper has failed to spark in the World Cup so far. He has struggled to cope on the back foot and had few opportunities to show off his unique style of attacking rugby. With Carter out of the equation, Cooper has the chance on Sunday to enrage New Zealand to far greater effect than with off-field jibes.

Australia - Team News: Australia fullback Kurtley Beale failed to recover from a hamstring injury and Adam Ashley-Cooper replaces him with Anthony Faingaa coming into midfield. Rob Simmons is drafted onto the bench instead of lock Nathan Sharpe.

Key Battle: Of all the tantalizing showdowns across the park, there is one that stands out above the rest. Pocock vs McCaw has the ring of a heavyweight title bout and is potentially the contest of the World Cup. Pocock proved his form and fitness in a match-winning display against the Boks but could be on the back foot against New Zealand's seemingly superior pack, while McCaw will have to overcome doubts about a foot injury if he is to maintain his top-dog status and keep the All Blacks on track.

Stats: New Zealand have not lost at Eden Park for 17 years and have not lost to the Wallabies there since 1986

Trivia: Four players remain from the All Blacks side that lost to France in the quarter-final of the 2007 Rugby World Cup: Richie McCaw, Tony Woodcock, Ali Williams and Andrew Hore

Quote unquote:

"I think there's a quiet focus there, a quiet determination. The guys have been a bit quieter than normal, probably because it's such a huge game. It's probably the biggest game that these guys have played in 10 years." - All Blacks head coach Graham Henry reveals his team's quiet preparations

"The pressure is divided equally on both sides as there is no tomorrow, and the ultimate prize [a place in the Rugby World Cup final] awaits the side which earns that right of passage." - Australia coach Robbie Deans dismisses the notion that all the pressure is on the All Blacks

Prediction: New Zealand's edge in the tight five and home support to be enough to carry them over the whitewash - but expect some fireworks along the way.

Playoff Series: Game 6 of 7

Detroit: Scherzer (0-0, 4.50 ERA)
Texas: Holland (0-0, 10.13 ERA)

Rangers-Tigers Preview

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Nelson Cruz is again swinging his big boomstick in October for the Texas Rangers, who are one win from their second consecutive trip to the World Series.

Only 3 1/2 years ago, Cruz was waived at the end of spring training but went unclaimed and was sent to the minors. It's been quite a turnaround.
"That period of time in Nelson's life, he hadn't arrived yet. You know, we all got to experience things before we finally make our way to where we want to be," manager Ron Washington said Friday. "That certainly probably has done a great deal for Nelson to experience that and realize once he got here that he certainly have to figure out how to make the adjustments. And he's done that."
Cruz is living up to his boomstick moniker that became common after an MLB 2K10 video game promotion last year, a season after he was the Home Run Derby runner-up. He already has an LCS-record five home runs heading into Saturday night, when the Rangers host Detroit with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven AL series.
"You just continue to say `Wow, this guy is really good'," said David Murphy, who as the No. 8 hitter usually is on deck when Cruz hits.
Cruz won Game 2 with the first game-ending grand slam in postseason history. Cruz hit another 11th-inning drive in Detroit in Game 4, a three-run shot.
Yet Cruz bats seventh in the Texas lineup, behind Josh Hamilton, Michael Young Adrian Beltre and Mike Napoli.
"When he gets going he's as good as any power hitter in the game," Young said. "He's got that knack for big RBIs, and you definitely need those guys on your team."
Against the Tigers, Cruz tied Game 2 when he led off the seventh with a solo homer that chased Max Scherzer. The Detroit starter had retired 12 in a row following a double by Cruz, who was hit by a pitch near his wrist in the ninth and then hit his slam.
Cruz also chased Justin Verlander in Game 5 when he pulled a 100-mph 0-2 fastball that hit the left-field pole, just like his homer off Scherzer.
"I realize he's a good hitter and he's hot. Given that, you can't fear him. You have to go right after him," Scherzer said Friday. `Even though he's hot, if the situation arises, you might have to be more careful. My game plan, I guarantee you, going forward will be to be aggressive with him. "
Scherzer gets another chance Saturday night in a rematch of the Game 2 starters. Derek Holland, who didn't make it out of the third inning Monday, goes for the Rangers.
While the Rangers had an optional light workout late Friday afternoon at Rangers Ballpark that last less than an hour, the Tigers opted for some extra time at home before flying back to Texas after extending the series with a 7-5 victory Thursday.
On a conference call from Detroit, manager Jim Leyland said he was open for suggestions when asked if the Tigers need to re-evaluate how they're pitching Cruz.
"That would be a good idea," Leyland said. "He's a threat to hit the ball out of the ballpark at any time."
Cruz wasn't in the clubhouse Friday when it was open to reporters, who were told the slugger was taking the day off along with center fielder Josh Hamilton (left groin strain) and third baseman Adrian Beltre, who fouled a ball off his knee in Detroit.
But Cruz was later on the field and fully participated in batting practice.
The grand slam by Cruz ended the game that had been postponed because of the threat of more wet weather that never happened a day after Game 1 last Saturday night was delayed twice by rain and didn't end until just after midnight.
There should be ideal weather conditions this weekend, when the game-time temperatures are expected to be around 80 degrees with no chance of rain.
After going 1 for 15 with a single in the AL division series against Tampa Bay, Cruz is 6 for 18 against the Tigers, with a double, five homers and 11 RBIs, matching the ALCS record and one shy of the tying the mark for any postseason series.
"Yes, it's amazing with him hitting the ball out of the ballpark the way he's doing it. But it certainly isn't anything we haven't seen before," Washington said. "We're just happy that it's happening at this time."
Cruz hit six homers and set a postseason record with 13 extra-base hits last October when the Rangers won their first AL pennant. Of his 11 career postseason homers, seven have come in the seventh inning or later -- a mark surpassed only by Bernie Williams, Reggie Jackson and Derek Jeter.
The Rangers acquired Cruz with Carlos Lee from Milwaukee in their July 2006 trade. Cruz finished that season with the Rangers, and then started and ended 2007 in the majors with a stint at Triple-A Oklahoma in between.
But at the end of spring training in 2008, the final roster spot came down to Cruz or Jason Botts, both young power hitters out of minor league options. Texas went with Botts, who hit only .158 in 15 games with 18 strikeouts in 38 at-bats and was designated for assignment. Botts never again played in the majors.
Cruz cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma, where he had an MVP season in the Pacific Coast League. He hit .342 with 37 home runs, 99 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 103 games for the RedHawks before rejoining the Rangers the final six weeks of the season -- when he hit .330 with seven homers and 26 RBIs in 31 games.
Originally signed as a 17-year-old free agent from the Dominican Republic in 1998, Cruz spent three seasons in the New York Mets organization before getting traded to Oakland and later Milwaukee. Now he's a postseason standout for the Rangers.
"It's very gratifying, satisfying, all of the above, simply because we need Nelson. He's a big part of our team.," Washington said. "Not only on the offensive side, defensive side, status in the clubhouse, energy that he brings, all of that comes into play."
